Books and other library resources should be provided for the interest, information, and enlightenment of all people of the community the library serves. Materials should not be excluded because of the origin, background, or views of those contributing to their creation.

Been to a library lately? Browsed the politics or culture section? If you have, you’ve probably seen a lot more Michael Moore than Dinesh D’Souza. That’s because what librarians buy can be heavily influenced by what they believe. And the library profession leans overwhelmingly left.

Our tax dollars help to support our libraries. And libraries are supposed to serve their communities. Let’s ask for the books we want! The more of us who ask, the harder it will be for them to say no.
